Soulful singer Sa'Rayah, a contender on NBC's "The Voice," said she has learned to respond to challenges "with only love and light."
Saved by coach Alicia Keys on the television show, the Country Club Hills resident said she knows something about adversity.
The 28-year-old single mom makes no secret of her past. Her bio states that she was raised in the Cabrini Green public housing complex in Chicago by a mother who struggled with drug addiction. Now, the singer said, she's going through a divorce while raising her daughter —2-year-old Nylah — and building her career.
She will appear on the show again at 7 p.m. Monday.
